"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."

About Me
My name is Kevin Powell. I am an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher, who is dedicated to ensuring pupils acquire, consolidate and utilise their knowledge in all curriculum areas. I have an extensive knowledge of teaching and learning from reception age to year six, including preparing year 6 children for their end of Key Stage Two SATs. I have high expectations for behaviour and learning, and maintain a calm, respectful and hard-working learning environment, where pupils are comfortable and learn to the best of their ability.

Since the UK government made changes to the primary school curriculum in 2014, what children need to learn in primary schools has changed, and the way children have to be taught needs to adapt too. In large classes and busy classrooms, it becomes very easy for some children to miss out on high-quality teaching. I strongly believe that children learn best when teaching is catered to their specific learning styles and needs. Furthermore, having been a teacher for many years, I have witnessed the empowerment of one-to-one and small-group focused teaching and the growth in learning that accompanies it. I have a strong and clear ideology within my teaching. Children learn best through high-quality, one-to-one or small-group teaching, where skills and subject matter are broken down into manageable steps which they can then apply to a wider range of situations.

My vocation in life is to help all primary-school children achieve their best potential - and I am here to help your children too. New changes in the curriculum could mean new challenges for your child; I am here to help your child construct a ladder to overcome any pitfalls they may encounter in their learning.
